If you grew up in Westmoreland County, chances are you’ve been to Linn Run State Park in Ligonier. It’s one of the most beautiful, woodsy, and tranquil parks I’ve ever been to. It has a stream that runs through it – which is absolutely stunning amongst the trees and boulders. The stream also boasts a famous little local swimming hole known to some as Flat Rock. It is a huge flat sheet of rock which gets really slippy! It’s like a shallow, natural water slide that dumps you into a larger swimming area. I’ve slid down, I’ve slid my dog down, and I’ve seen people even slide down on their feet and bust their knees or elbows on their way down.
When April and Matt suggested a Linn Run engagement session, I was super pumped. Even though it’s a long drive for me now, I knew it would be worth it. I was excited to get out of the city and shoot in a country setting. No paying to park, no driving around blocks looking for a spot. No shooting around a bunch of other people. No taking turns with other photographers who are shooting a session at the same location as you! It’s a dream. 🙂
I had so much fun with these two and you’ll see how awesome they are as you go through the photos. They weren’t just okay with getting in the freezing cold stream – they loved it.
I seriously had the biggest smile on my face during this entire shoot. I need to up and move back out to the country!
When we left the state park, we knew we wanted to take some shots along side the roadway that takes you there. The mountain countryside was the perfect place to finish such a perfect night.
