This whimsical and romantic Nashville wedding at Iriswoods was one of the most beautiful weddings I’ve witnessed this year. From DeNarius’ tearful face when he saw his beautiful blushing bride walking down the aisle to the century old trees that shaded the ceremony, it was picture perfect. The secluded woods and pastures that surrounded Iriswoods are a photographer’s dream. The log home (circa 1850) makes a pretty sweet backdrop as well. Brea and DeNarius had an emotional first look – they held each other as tight as possible and didn’t want to let go (I was definitely tearing up behind my camera). After that, the nerves seemed to be gone and the fun had begun! One of the great things about Iriswoods is the golden hour photo opportunities. Just a few steps away from the reception tent is a secluded pasture with tall grass, open sky, and an old barn. Taking just a 10 minute break away from your reception and guests at sunset gives you the opportunity to relax and enjoy an intimate moment with just the two of you as a newly married couple. I love to capture the kissing, squeezing, and dancing that occurs during that time with a gorgeous golden light source.
I always love to include a little story in my blog posts and I thought the story of their proposal was pretty amazing, so here’s how Brea described it…
“So, fast forward almost two years into our relationship and we are going to Gatlinburg on one of our random day trips. He knows I LOVE flying so he takes us on a helicopter tour over the mountains – talk about a beautiful view! The whole flight, he was shaking and being so awkward so I knew something was up. At one point during the flight, we flew over a drop off and it was the most breathtaking sight! As we were 2,000 feet in the air, he told me he wants to spend forever with me. He asked me if I would marry him and we all know my answer for that!”
